Free Teacher 2.0 Workshop in Melbourne August 30th

I'm going to be in Melbourne, Australia, in a couple of weeks and thanks to some great networking by Andrew Hiskens and Hamish Curry (with thanks also to Anne Mirtschin and Jenny Luca) I'm going to be leading a free, all-day workshop at the amazing Experimedia in the State Library of Victoria. The title of the workshop is: Teacher 2.0: Your Personal and Professional Growth.

This is a project I've been working on for the last few months, with the goal of helping educators learn to use the Web for their own learning--in part to help them understand where these tools will have pedagogical value for them in the classroom, but also to help them rejuvenate their own learning and careers.  I continue to believe that we cannot expect educators to teach "21st Century Skills" if they aren't experiencing the benefits of these technologies personally, and that the surest way to improving education is to help educators become "lead learners" and in a position to influence their students and public policy.

If you're in the Melbourne area, I hope you'll join us!

Date: Tuesday 30 August, 8:30am – 4pm

Venue: State Library of Victoria, Experimedia.  Main Entry, Swanston Street

Cost: FREE

Bookings: http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/event/teacher-20-your-personal-and-professional-growth

Description:  Dramatic changes are going to continue to take place in education because of the Web. While change is never easy, but always constant, the Web is providing amazing new opportunities for educators to explore their own interests and passions, build personal learning networks, and have a significant impact on their students, their schools, and their own careers. This exclusive hands-on, FREE workshop will explore these trends and help you, as the "lead learner", build educational resources for you and your students. A personal laptop or mobile device is highly recommended. Places are strictly limited; catering included. Registration is from 8:30am for a prompt start at 9am.
